St Andrew’s redevelopment project is swiftly progressing. October saw the final centre concrete pour on level 5 of our tower block; we now have a completed concrete slab to our executive offices and training room. Further progression will see the completion of columns that will connect to the structural steel roof and formwork of our level 6 plant deck.

St Andrew’s Ipswich has proudly welcomed its first patients to the hospital’s new rehabilitation unit. Following its completion in late August, the refurbished seven-bed unit provides rehabilitation services to patients requiring care after illness, injury or surgery.

St Andrew’s Acquires Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) Bronchoscope

Dr Richard Nankervis, Respiratory Physician, has welcomed St Andrew’s new Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) Bronchoscope. EBUS is a fairly new procedure used in the diagnosis of cancer, infections and diseases of the chest. The technique uses a specifically designed bronchoscope to access deep tissues safely, that would have otherwise required an invasive surgical approach. This bronchoscope is the first of its kind in Ipswich; it’s only one of 2 located in Brisbane.
