Multimillion dollar redevelopment of St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital Gets Underway

Jun 15, 2011

The planned multimillion dollar redevelopment of St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital, which will see major changes to the hospital’s operating theatre and day surgery complex, commences this week.

The $8 million expansion will be undertaken by Queensland Builders, Evans Harch, the successful tenderers for the project. The development will include new operating theatres, procedure rooms, an expanded theatre recovery area as well as a new day of surgery area and discharge lounge.

St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Chief Executive Officer Chris Went said the commencement of the building works was an exciting stage in the Hospital’s 102 year history.

“This expansion demonstrates our commitment to being the private hospital of choice to residents of Ipswich and surrounding communities,” Ms Went said.

“The new development will assist the Hospital to meet the growing demand for private hospital services in the Ipswich region.”

St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital is owned and operated by Ramsay Health Care, Australia’s largest and most respected operator of private hospitals.  The Hospital offers a range of services to the general community including obstetrics, paediatrics, orthopaedics, surgery and medicine.

Ms Went said: “Our staff and doctors are looking forward to working in the updated facilities when they are completed later this year.”

She said although there would be some changes to carparking onsite during the redevelopment, services within the Hospital would continue to operate unaffected.
