St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital Rehabilitation Unit Welcomes First Patients

Oct 14, 2015

St Andrew’s Ipswich has proudly welcomed its first patients to the hospital’s new rehabilitation unit. Following its completion in late August, the refurbished seven-bed unit provides rehabilitation services to patients requiring care after illness, injury or surgery.

St Andrew’s CEO, Mrs Chris Went, is delighted to provide a local choice for patients seeking quality, comfortable rehabilitation care, close to family and friends.

“We provide patients an expert continuum of care following illness or medical procedures; eliminating the need for patients to travel unnecessarily to Brisbane for rehab.”

“We expect to mainly see orthopaedic patients in the initial phase, who will benefit from the medical attention and ongoing care we provide.”

Mrs Bobbie Joppich from a farm outside Toowoomba was the first patient through the door following her second hip replacement at St Andrew’s.

“This time I was grateful to be transferred from the surgical ward to the new rehabilitation unit. I’ve felt so welcome - it’s been an excellent choice for the next step in my post-operative rehab.”

“The care from the specialists, nursing and allied health teams are wonderful. I’m particularly enjoying the physiotherapist-guided gym sessions.”

Along with Ramsay Healthcare, the unit is supported by Mr Arek Olczak, Unit Manager, Dr Juan Rois Gnecco, Specialist Rehabilitation Medicine Physician, and a team of dedicated allied health professionals.
