St Andrew's Ipswich Private now offers Greenlight Laser Therapy

Jun 07, 2012

St Andrew's Ipswich Private Hospital now offers a new treatment for the most common men's health problem.

This treatment now available at St. Andrew's may provide relief for men suffering from enlarged prostate. Also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP), this non- cancerous enlargement of the prostate affects more than 50 percent of men over the age of 60.

Treatment options for BHP have been limited to a lifetime of medication or an invasive surgical procedure. Now, men with BHP in Ipswich have the option to choose a minimally invasive surgical treatment known as Greenlight Laser Therapy.

Greenlight Laser Therapy is a quick, overnight stay procedure that delivers immediate and dramatic relief of symptoms without the side effects, expensive medication or the risks associated with invasive surgery. More than 500,000 men have been treated with Greenlight Laser Therapy.

"It is important that we continue to keep abreast of the latest technology and that the local community has these options available. St Andrew's is delighted to be able to offer Greenlight Laser Therapy to men of the Ipswich and West Morton area," Chris Went CEO said, following the first cases completed at the hospital last Monday.

Specialist Urologists Dr. Teng and Dr. Hii have undertaken extensive training to be able to provide this treatment to patients at St Andrew's. Pictured during the procedure, Dr.Teng was very grateful to the hospital, that he could now offer the latest treatment option to his patients locally.
