Dr Shahzad has special interests in Inflammatory bowel disease. Capsule endoscopy, 24 Hr PH study, High resolution oesophageal manometry, Bowel Cancer Screening • Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, Removal of large polyps• Clinical Gastroenterology • Clinical Hepatology. Irritable bowel Syndrome.

Dr Asif Shahzad is gastroenterologist and hepatologist with special interest in quality endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease and complex gastrointestinal and liver disorders.

He completed his training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at various hospitals across Adelaide in South Australia where he received extensive training in general gastroenterology, inflammatory bowel disease and liver diseases.

He was awarded his fellowship from Royal Australian college of Physicians (RACP). He then developed interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as well motility disorders of gut which led him to move to Brisbane to undertake further training at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is currently employed at Logan hospital as well as providing private services at Sunnybank private hospital.

Dr Shahzad provides his services for all kind of gastroenterology issues including but not limited to Heartburn (GORD), Coeliac disease, Difficulty swallowing (Dysphagia), Chronic Diarrhoea, chronic abdominal pain, Irritable bowel Syndrome and hepatology.

Dr Shahzad is an accredited specialist with AHPRA specialist recognition. He is fully certified proceduralist with Gastroenterology society of Australia (GESA) for upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy and Capsule endoscopy and hold his Key performance indicators (KPI) way above the minimum standards set by GESA. He is committed to providing an individualised and patient centred approach to the care of his patients.

Dr Shahzad is an examiner for RACP and mentor for supervisor professional development programmes. He is also Senior Lecturer at Griffith university where he fulfils his passion in teaching medical students.
