Dr Treffene is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgery.

Dr Treffene trained as an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Upper Limb Surgery including:

  • Hand and Wrist Surgery
  • Microsurgery of the Hand
  • Elbow Surgery
  • Shoulder Surgery

Dr Treffene graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1991. Dr Treffene received his FRACS in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2001.

Dr Treffene then completed a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the prestigious Pulvertaft Hand Centre at the Royal Derby Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Dr Treffene opened his private Orthopaedic Practice in Ipswich in 2002 and has been a Visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon at St Andrew’s Ipswich and Ipswich Hospital since 2002. He is invested in teaching medical students, trainees and fellow health professionals on orthopaedic conditions. Dr Treffene contributes to the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s trainee education, research and trial examinations.

Dr Treffene’s private practice is conveniently located in the Ipswich medical precinct and directly opposite St Andrew’s Ipswich Hospital. Dr Treffene can offer simple local anaesthetic procedures in his minor operating theatre within his rooms for patients without private cover e.g. carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release etc.

Dr Treffene shares his rooms and works in close association with EKCO Hand and Occupational Therapy Practice.

Dr Treffene is a member of the Queensland Hand Surgery Society and the Queensland Shoulder Society.
