- Dr Richard Nankervis is a Physician with advance training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine . He grew up locally where he completed secondary schooling and then undertook undergraduate degrees in both physiology and then allied health. He subsequently completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland in 2002. He undertook further specialist training in hospitals throughout South East Queensland. He completed two years of advanced training in Respiratory Medicine at The Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Logan Hospital and also completed a fellowship year in Sleep Medicine at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Rivercity Private Hospital.
Dr Nankervis has extensive experience in the management of all general respiratory conditions including occupational lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, bronchiectasis, asthma, interstitial lung disease, sarcoidosis, lung cancer, pulmonary infection and pleural diseases.
In addition to these areas, Dr Nankervis has an interest in interventional procedures including standard bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). He has Ipswich’s first EBUS service and is the only private physician performing these procedures in the region.
Dr Nankervis is also interested in all aspects of sleep medicine and has a dedicated sleep clinic to investigate and treat both respiratory and non-respiratory aspects of sleep including obstructive sleep apnoea/snoring, central sleep apnoea, narcolepsy and sleep behavior disorders.
