Ramsay Health Care invests in Ipswich with new expansion plans for St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital

Ramsay Health Care is once again investing in Ipswich, announcing a $40.5 million project to expand St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital.

The project will include two new operating theatres, 39 extra beds and expanded renal dialysis and radiology services.

Chief Executive Officer Claire Thurwood said the expansion was great news for the people of Ipswich and highlighted Ramsay Health Care’s commitment to the region.

“We are so excited to announce this expansion because Ipswich is one of the fastest growing areas in Australia so it makes sense that residents should be able to access the full suite of medical care close to home,” Ms Thurwood said.

“As well as expanding our private health care offerings, this project also allows us to broaden our renal dialysis unit for public patients, which means we can further support the West Moreton Health Service by almost doubling the number of patients treated for kidney disease,” Ms Thurwood said.

Details of the $40.5 million project include:

• Expanded Renal Dialysis Unit from 12 to 20 chairs,
• Two new operating theatres,
• An additional 39 patient beds,
• Expanded radiology practice for IMED radiology, and
• Expanded Day Rehabilitation space.

Construction on the new development is set to begin in late 2021, and is due for completion in June 2023.

The announcement comes just weeks after the significant growth of vascular services at St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital, with Dr Ramesh Tripathi and Dr Ian Campbell joining Dr Maged Aziz in the expanded vascular unit.

Doctor Tripathi was quick to put his expertise to work - performing the first Endovascular Repair (EVAR) surgery at the St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital in late August. EVAR is the placement of a stent-graft into an aneurysm through a small hole in the blood vessels in the groin - and is generally considered a less invasive procedure with faster recovery times.
